     Step 2: Taking Aim

Use the directional arrows on the keyboard to adjust the sliding gauges. The positioning of a slider represents what portion of the deposit is being targeted. This determines what items a player will be capable of obtaining.

    Step 1: The Interactions menu

The First step is to approach a mineral deposit and select the gathering command that appears in the Interactions menu. For primary gathering actions, the options will be Mine

Mining

   Step 3: Digging Away

Choosing the Strike option from the Approach window will bring up an oscillating cursor and gauge used to determine the force with which the pickaxe is swung. The oscillations can be stopped at any point by pressing the Enter key or the Select/Confirm button. Each strike made will reduce the mineral deposit’s Remainder value. A single mining attempt ends when this value reaches zero.

Striking with an inappropriate amount of force will yield no items.

Mining attempts will result in system messages being displayed in the log. If a player has struck with an amount of force that does not yield a message beginning with the phrase, You are close to something..., then the current attempt will yield no items.

In addition, any mining attempt after the first will provide players with another message containing a hint as to whether or not they have gotten closer to a “sweet spot” from which items can be obtained. Players are encouraged to make use of these hints to improve their next stike’s chances of success.

Mining 101

Since the last few patches, mining has become considerably easier to level. With the abolishment of gathering fatigue you can mine to your hearts content. Each zone has multiple camps which vary in node grades. Also with the removal of guild marks, in which zone you choose makes no difference. I will however suggest specific camps below and list my reasoning's. You may ask yourself "when is a good time to move to the next camp? In my opinion once items have become Static for that location

Now here is the part many of you may not know. Once you reach the level at which you can get leves for a specific camp.. the the spot at which you get an item.. becomes STATIC. If you raise your VIT high enough.. this can even occur a level beforehand. Let me explain what i mean. When you first start mining it will all seem to be random and you will just blindly swing away. But there actually is a pattern to the madness. You will eventually be able to tell just by looking at the remainder what item you are about to get and where exactly to swing!

Mooglebox website has created an awesome tool to help you determine where an item is and where to swing. They have broken it down into 3 parts

REMEMBER : All these locations will become static once you reach the proper level for that camp
